This is my third collaboration with acclaimed British composer Steve Hillman. The idea behind this album was to recreate and re-imagine some of Steve's tracks from his 80s solo albums. Sun Tower and Star Cycle first appeared on the 1986 album New Horizon. Time Levels first appeared on the 1987 album Timelevels. First Light, Earth Pulse, Night Tides and Accumulator appeared on the 1988 album Worlds Beyond. The original versions of Prelude & Call Of The Sea first appeared on the 1989 album Phases. I composed the track Time Vortex especially for this album and Steve decided to name the album after this track.
I had the privilege to receive some of Steve's solo four track recordings from the 80s (including midi files) and then I built up and even made some extensions to his tracks. I composed a new ending for Time Levels, dedicated to Linda. Also Accumulator has a new ending based on Steve's original melodic idea. As you will notice after listening to this album, there are other numerous changes made to Steve's original recordings but tried to keep them subtle. Every change was made with respect to his original recordings and with the aim to revitalise them by introducing new ideas, sounds and fx.

I think Cosmic Ground is a exciting band. Old fashioned and with nice vibes and rhytms. But I miss something. Many compare with TD. Maybe, but I lack the crescendo at the end of the songs. It becomes boring when the end lacks a Froeselike guitarsolo. Something is missing, the crescendo is missing, the songs just exit out with no proper end explosion. Roger Adler
